Yikes, coffee that has a crunchy twist to it...

Danny Guselli is fond of coffee, but we doubt he would be keen on trying this popular coffee in China.
Over the years, food trends in China have left many people stunned. From spring onion lattes to chilli-infused coffee, we can safely say that some of these trends are extreme and bizarre. The most adventurous we've gotten with coffee involves adding hazelnut syrup or pairing it with chocolate.
Although we have to give credit where it's due, Danny Guselli did cross over to the wild side when he decided to try the spring onion latte. You can watch that video here.
However, we're not sure he would take a chance with this new trend from a coffee shop in Pu'er, Southwest China's Yunnan Province.
According to Global Times: "The coffee shop has gained attention for its unusual insect-infused coffee lineup, featuring drinks like Bamboo Worm Americano, Grasshopper Latte, and Earth Bee Latte, which are made with locally sourced insects.
Xu Qing, the coffee shop's owner, said that bamboo worms, grasshoppers, and earth bees are not only brewed into coffee but can also be eaten on their own, seasoned with salt or chilli powder, giving customers a unique culinary experience."
Pu’er is located near the borders of Myanmar, Laos, and Vietnam. Insects are commonly used in local cuisine in this region, which isn't just known for its bugs but is also the heart of China's coffee production.

What could someone expect to pay for such a drink? As it is still relatively new on the market, the unconventional beverage is priced between 68 and 98 yuan ($9.4 and $13.5), prices vary based on the insect used. That's approximately R169 and R242 a serving.
For now, the drink is only available on request or by special order. The unique coffee require advanced ordering. The owner said that if customers respond well to the insect-infused coffee, they will permanently add them to his menu.
