A local content creator shares his shock when finding out the price of Pringles these days, asking when the country installed the "Pringles tax".

Undoubtedly, the rise in food prices has everyone feeling the pinch. Even though we all know and see the difference it has made in our lifestyle choices, it is still shocking to see the inflated prices of some items.
A Durban content creator, Garfield Zar, shared the shocking truth behind the cost of Pringles.
A can of 165g Pringles retails for R91.00 in some South African stores, while in other retailers, it can be purchased for R70.00. It's not at all ideal and has raised some red flags for the Pringle lovers.
The popular international snack has shocked people, with some die-hards still willing to feed their cravings no matter the cost. But others won't be popping open a can anytime soon due to its price.
"How did the economy get to this point? Pringles are now becoming a rich person's food because an average person cannot afford to pay R91.00 for a can of Pringles," says the content creator.
Garfield is not the only one questioning the high price of Pringles. Many people have shared their outrage at the ridiculous price hike. According to some analysts, the price increase might be due to supply chain issues, which, accompanied by the state of the rand and import duties, are pushing prices up.
One commented, "I'd rather stand in the home affairs line then buy Pringles for that much."
"I was talking my sister out of spending R60 on Pringles and just buying the store brand, legit 4 hours ago."
"I saw like R40 like a week ago, now R100 bucks."
One person questioned where he saw this price, "You guys are probably buying them at the garage or something coz I’m eating them now and I got them for R38 at Pick n Pay."
