Mom surprised by her daughter's version of Afrikaans

It was an epic fail for this young girl who thought she could 'Afrikaansinise' English words to sound like Afrikaans...

If you are a 'Friends' fan, you will remember that Joey confidently added French to his resume even though he didn't know how to speak the language.

It was just like Joey to create his version of what he thought to be French speaking with a fake accent and making up French words.

We experienced a somewhat similar version of this with a Cape Town mom and daughter who left us in stitches with their impromptu Afrikaans lesson.

Nuriyah Gallow, a mom and content creator, shared a hilarious video in May when her daughter, Gianna, asked her if the car was open in what she called Afrikaans. Gallow asked her daughter to repeat what she said once they got into the car, and the young lady said, "Is die kar geoopen?"

We may not all be experts on the language, but this was far from correct. Gallow knew this, and she confidently told her daughter what she was supposed to say: "Maak oop die kar."  However, a quick search reveals that the correct way of saying it is "Is die kar oopgemaak?"

Mom wasn't entirely wrong. "Maak oop die kar" means "open the car," so it is a request, as opposed to Gianna's question, which asked if the car was opened.

These two tried desperately to make sense of their 'Fanagalo' Afrikaans, and their efforts provided great, upbeat entertainment. Watch the video from Instagram below.

But wait, the entertainment didn't end there.

Their video got people laughing out loud, and some wanted to challenge this duo further, so they sent Gallow some English sayings to translate.

Again, it was an epic video with loads of laughs - check it out below on Instagram
