When you're so invested in a story, you listen intently...

We've seen our fair share of monkey invasion videos. As we all know, they move in troops, but they have a habit of always drawing attention.

Whether they're trying to get into someone's home to steal a snack or ransacking the trees for fruit, they are always up to something. They play perfectly to their mannerisms.

One thing we don't see very often is a vervet monkey calmly engaging with humans. If they don't scare off, they are feisty and have even been known to attack humans.

Except for this video that has made its way onto social media. The video shows a group of men settling down for the evening around a campfire.

The men are quiet, and we hear one of them speaking in Afrikaans

Then, the cameraman shows us something you don't see daily: a man intently conversing with a vervet monkey perched on a tree stump. While the monkey looks real, we think it is a stuffed animal or taxidermy (a way of preparing, stuffing and/or mounting an animal for display or study).

But who knows, maybe it's a friendly monkey eager to be a part of the campfire story time.

No one else in the comments said this, but some did tag the man speaking. His name is Ronan Gamble and he is from the North West. From his social media presence, it looks like he lives on a farm and his family are working on building a game lodge.
