It never ceases to amaze us how many hidden gems in the city go unnoticed.

One person who is on a mission to uncover some of Durban's most interesting hidden attractions is Daniel Osch, a content creator slowly revealing things about Durban that we never thought we needed to know.

Daniel has gained popularity on social media by sharing content on things to do and places to eat. He has also taken a keen interest in celebrating Durban's heritage.

He spoke about the famous mall from back in the day, The Wheel, last year which sparked a wave of nostalgia for many locals.

This time Daniel caught our attention when he visited another iconic place in Durban, the Lion Match factory

He shared a video about the legendary lion statue in front of the office park on Point Road and Mahatma Gandhi Road.

"Lion Match Factory Office Park, built in 1900, stands majestically proud on 892 Umgeni Road and boldly holds that stature," reports JT Ross Group.

The Lion Match Company has a rich history and is one of the oldest companies in South Africa, having been established over 120 years ago.

He discovered that the lion statue in front of the Lion Match Company headquarters roars every hour until 10 PM daily. It might sound too cool to be true, so he visited the office park to find out for himself.
