Petrol station cashier questioned by boss about her new car

Where there's a will, there's a way...If you are familiar with that phrase, you will know that anything and everything is possible when you have a vision and set your mind to it.

Imagine saving up for your first car, only for your boss to question how you can afford it.
Not only is this a negative leadership trait, but it is also entirely inappropriate.
This happened to 28-year-old Eza Limelintaka from Maitland, Cape Town, a petrol station cashier who paired her savvy skills with her will to buy her first car and secured a loan. According to News24, Limelintaka saved for nine months and secured a bank loan to purchase a secondhand vehicle.
But her joy was short-lived when her boss suspiciously questioned how she could afford to buy a car.
Limelintaka told News24, "He asked how I could afford a car on my salary and demanded access to my bank account."
After gaining access to Limelintaka's bank statements, he looked over the numbers and told her he no longer trusted her, despite not finding anything suspicious.
Limelintaka questioned her boss about his concerns. She asked him if any money was missing from the business, and while he said no, he informed her that he was "uncomfortable" with her role as a cashier.
He gave her an ultimatum: either move outside and work as a petrol attendant or leave work. After Limelintaka refused she was asked to leave and think about her decision.
Limelintaka purchased the car to improve her life. She wanted to keep her job as a petrol station cashier while running a side business.
I had hoped the car would help me run a side hustle and keep working. Now it feels like I'm being punished for trying to improve my life.- Eza Limelintaka

The National Insourced Workers Union is reviewing her case. The representative, Siviwe Shiyeni said, "They're trying to force her to resign under duress, which is unlawful. We have advised her to report for duty. If the employer intends to change her role, they must put it in writing."
Meanwhile, Berkley Motors, where Limelintaka works, claims "nobody was accused of anything".
"Nothing was done without consent, and discussions are ongoing. She has left out many facts that were stated. Now that she falsely accused the company of improper procedures, due diligence can be followed accordingly," the company told News 24.
We cannot imagine how devastated Limelintaka must feel, but we hope the matter is resolved amicably.
