Zulu, who escaped unhurt, says he is also asking questions as to what happened and why.

"I realised later that it was a shooting. Initially I thought it was stones. A few seconds later I realised it was a shooting. But I wasn't scared because the vehicle continued to move," he said.

Zulu had been driving home on Monday night when two gunmen fired several shots at his official car in Ematsheni.

Zulu and two other passengers escaped unharmed.

He says he is still puzzled as to why anyone would want him dead.

"It is quite difficult to suspect some of these things. I don't have any conflict with anyone. So it is difficult for me to suspect anyone."

A case of attempted murder has been opened at Ematsheni Saps.
