Weekend rainfall expected across KZN

Wet weather conditions are expected over parts of KwaZulu-Natal from tomorrow, providing some relief from the high fire danger conditions experienced in the western and north western parts of the province earlier this week.

The South African Weather Service has forecast cool conditions for most of the province from tomorrow, but highs of around 28 degrees are still expected in the Newcastle and Ladysmith areas.

The weather service says there is a 30 percent chance of rain across KwaZulu-Natal on Friday. This will increase to 60 percent on Saturday morning.

Richards Bay on the north coast can expect an 80 percent chance of rain on Saturday morning, followed by showers and thundershowers.

Durban - 22
Pietermaritzburg and Margate - 20
Richards Bay and Mooi River - 23
Newcastle and Ladysmith - 28
Kokstad - 15
Ulundi - 25
And the Drakensburg - 19

Temperatures will drop below 20 at most stations on Saturday, with Durban only reaching a high of 19 degrees. Richards Bay and Pietermaritzburg can expect highs of 21 and 18 degrees respectively.

Sea swells of around 3m to 3.5m are expected on Saturday.

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall, snow and cold conditions are expected in parts of the Eastern Cape from today. Localised flooding is also expected along the coast in the Eden District of the Western Cape from Friday into Saturday.
