Forecaster, Julius Mahlangu says temperatures in affected areas are expected to range from mid to high twenties.

Ulundi was expected to reach a high of 36 degrees today.

Mahlangu says dry conditions in these areas made them issue the warning.

"Those areas include Newcastle, Ladysmith, Estcourt, Mooi River, Giants Castle and then extending to Kokstad as well," he said.

Mahklangu says fires in these areas could prove difficult to tackle, hence the warning.
