eThekwini metro police say there were some early morning protests on Thursday in Tongaat, north of Durban.

Members of the public order policing unit are monitoring the situation along the R102 at the Hambanati traffic lights.
Meanwhile, police and security officials were caught off guard when a large group of protesters descended on Umgeni Road on Wednesday night.
