Verulam stepfather's rape trial postponed
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
There's been a delay in the trial of the Verulam man accused of the sexual abuse and the rape of his stepdaughter.

The 45-year-old suspect was arrested in June 2018 when it emerged he'd allegedly kept the girl locked in a room and repeatedly abused her.
The child was 11-years-old when she confided in a neighbour and officials were alerted. Her mother died in 2014.
The trial was meant to kick off on Thursday morning in the Durban High Court, but the court heard the accused wasn't well.
The State says it's been told he's a diabetic and is being treated for high blood sugar levels.
The matter has been adjourned to tomorrow for a medical certificate to be handed up - while the trial has been rescheduled to start on Monday.

The man is facing 56 charges ranging from rape, sexual exploitation of a child, human trafficking and the creation of child pornography.
A 66-page indictment details the extensive abuse the child is said to have endured.
She is set to testify next week.
