UPDATE: Road worker dies after Durban N3 crash
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
A road worker who was struck by a car on the N3 highway between Paradise Valley and the Pavilion off ramp in Durban this afternoon has succumbed to his injuries.
It's understood the man was trying to cross the highway when he was hit.
Earlier that area of the busy road was closed down to one lane to allow emergency services personnel, including a doctor, to try and resuscitate him.
Netcare 911's Chris Botha says medics treated the man on the scene for a while.

''Paramedics and a doctor from Netcare 911's rescue unit worked for about 45 minutes trying to resuscitate the man, but tragically he was declared dead at the scene due to the very severe injuries he had sustained," he said.
Botha says the affected section of road has been re-opened to traffic. However, he has appealed to motorists to be patient as traffic might still be moving slowly.
