Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
One the suspects arrested in connection with the murder of four family members in uMlazi has appeared in the uMlazi Magistrate's Court where he has given up his right to apply for bail.
One of his alleged accomplices died in a shootout with police, while another is still at large.
25-year-old Sanele Makhanya walked up from the holding cells barefoot and looking nervous.

He faces four counts of murder, two of attempted murders, one of rape and being in possession of an illegal firearm - as well as ammunition.
Makhanya, who at times kept his head bowed and eyes closed, is one of three suspects who allegedly went on a shooting and robbery spree in uMlazi's G section on Saturday morning - in which four people were killed, two women raped and eight others shot and wounded.
His defence told a packed court that for now, Makhanya would not be exercising his right to apply for bail.
The matter was adjourned to next week Friday for further investigation as well as a possible plea in the Pietermaritzburg High Court.
