Umlazi mass murder suspect to remain behind bars

The suspect nabbed in connection with the mass shooting in Umlazi will remain behind bars for a week.

Seven people were gunned down over the weekend.

The NPA's spokesperson for KZN Natasha Kara says the man briefly appeared at the Umlazi Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
He was arrested on Sunday at a mall in Durban.
"The 24-year-old man appeared in the Umlazi Magistrate's Court on seven counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder. The matter was remanded to the 22 August for bail investigation and bail application."
Police are still searching for three suspects.

It's alleged the group stormed a home in Q-section and shot five people.
The suspects then went to an informal settlement a few metres away and shot three people in a shack, leaving one wounded.
KZN Community Safety officials have welcomed the arrest.
