Man in court for Umlazi mass shooting

A suspect arrested in connection with a mass shooting in Umlazi is due to line up in court on Tuesday.
Police say four gunmen stormed a home and killed four people in Q-section on Friday night.
They then shot dead two others at an informal settlement nearby.

A spokesperson for the police in KZN, Robert Netshiunda, says they've been following up on a number of leads in the Umbumbulu, Umlazi, and Empandwini areas and Pitela.
"The identified suspects were cornered and arrested at a mall in Durban. He was expected to make his first court appearance at the Umlazi Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 15 August 2023.
"He will face seven charges of murder and one of attempted murder. A search for the remaining suspects continues."
