The 31-year-old woman whom he had booked into a room with was arrested shortly afterwards.

It’s alleged the two had an altercation in their room.

The woman’s attorney, Ravindra Maniklall told the court on Monday, that he made representations to the chief prosecutor, who decided that there isn’t enough evidence to have the matter enrolled now.

Maniklall later spoke to reporters outside court:

"The representations are to the effect of the actual incident that occurred between both parties."

"As it stands, the state will investigate the matter more fully and wait for all the necessary reports to come in and then they will make a final decision," he said.

Maniklall told the media that his client acted in self-defence, because she was attacked.

On the night of the incident, a guest in the room next door apparently heard the the commotion and called hotel security.

It's alleged the 31-year-old woman came out screaming for help. Naidu was also heard calling for help, before collapsing outside the room.

Maniklall says he's unable to disclose the nature of their relationship because of attorney-client confidentiality.
