A 51-year-old man has been stabbed to death at a hotel room at The Pearls of Umhlanga.
A 31-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the murder.
It's understood the pair had booked a room on the 13th floor on Thursday night.
According to an official source close to the investigation, the two had met at another hotel earlier last night.
They then booked into the The Pearls of Umhlanga, allegedly under the woman's name.
Sources understand an altercation began just before 10 o' clock, in room 1304, prompting a guest next door to alert hotel security.
SAPS spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says the woman then came out of the room, screaming for help.
"The deceased was also shouting for help. He fell on the floor outside the room and sustained a stab wound on the neck and he was certified dead at the scene. The knife was also recovered from the suspect," she said.
Sources say the woman alleges that the man wanted to kill her.
Management of the hotel says it will be releasing a statement soon.
