UKZN students want memorandum signed, demand action
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The SRC at the University of KwaZulu-Natal says at this stage it's not interested in negotiating - only action.
Students ran rampant at UKZN's Westville, Howard and Edgewood campuses - torching vehicles, smashing glass doors and causing other property damage.
They heeded the call on social media for a shutdown at the DUT, MUT and UNISA - as well.
They want answers on poor living conditions and registration issues.
"The plan is that the protest will continue. We are not going to make it to management any time soon. The only time where we are going to make it to management is whereby management comes to the students during the protest and take the memorandum.
"The university management must sign the memorandum in front of the students. The SRC will then consider going to negotiate," leader of SRC, Sanele Hlongwa said.
