PHOTOS: Protests break out at KZN universities

Police are stationed across three tertiary institutions in and around Durban, as a planned shutdown by students takes hold.

Durban Metro police are stationed at Mangosuthu University of Technology, where protest action has been underway for hours now.
There have been disruptions on UKZN's Westville and Edgewood campuses as well.
The police's Parboo Sewpersad says they understand that some students are planning on staging an illegal march.
It's understood that students are unhappy with the condition of their accommodation and registration issues.
This Westville student says a busload of protestors arrived at the campus this morning.
"There were people jumping out of a bus - at the main entrance. They were not violent but it seemed like they were ready to protest. They've brought tyres near the main hall," one student said.
UKZN has released communication to student saying that their risk management services are monitoring the situation on all campuses.
