UKZN students kicked out of residences
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
The University of KwaZulu-Natal says students staying in the institution's residences have been asked to leave all campuses from today as the varsity closes for the spring holidays.
The academic programme was suspended this week following violent protests.
Spokesperson Lesiba Seshoka says they are hoping all campuses will have returned to normal by the time they re-open.
''What we can't allow any student to do is to throw a petrol bomb at the institution's building and say it's a solution to their problems.
''This only complicates things for them because next year they'll have to pay more so that the institution can be able to rebuild these demolished buildings.
''We see it as a criminal activity and we will allow the police to deal with it accordingly in terms of the university's internal processes,'' he said.
