They also allegedly stole a farm vehicle.

The blaze was apparently started by community members who are unhappy at the pace at which court proceedings into the death of a man who had been fishing at a local dam are carrying on.

The initial shooting incident sparked violent protests in March, which also saw several farmhouses and sugarcane plantations torched.

SAPS spokesperson, Thembeka Mbhele says the men, aged between 26 and 30-years, will be charged with arson, theft of a motor vehicle and damage to property.

"They were arrested following incidents on the the 13th of May, when community members from Umlalazi embarked on a protest and blockaded the roads near the farms. The police went to the area and cleared the roads and dispersed the crowds," she said.

Mbhele says some protests then stormed a farm and burnt the house and stole a vehicle before torching it.

The suspects are due in court soon.
