Transformer repaired in KwaDukuza power outage
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
The KwaDukuza Municipality says electricity issues that sparked violent protests at Shakas Head at the weekend have been resolved.

The municipality's Sipho Mkhize says a faulty transformer led to a power outage which saw some residents forced to spend the weekend in the dark.
Angry community members took to the N2 highway in a protest that turned violent on Sunday night.
They claimed to have not received information or an explanation from the municipality on why they were without power.
Four people were hurt and several passing vehicles were stoned.

Mkhize says the transformer has now been repaired.
"The damage that caused problems was due to the heavy rain we have experienced and the supply needed from the transformer in question. However, it has been replaced. Electricity was back and we do not expect to have any situation of this sort in the near future," he says.
