It's understood newly-weds, Denver Mariemuthoo and Roxanne Thathoni had an argument in the home on Sunday morning.

Their landlord found Thathoni with stab wounds - after he'd rushed over to investigate the screams he'd heard.

Mariemuthoo was arrested at his parents' home later that day.

The 27-year-old Mariemuthoo kept his head down as he entered the dock.

Dressed in a formal blue shirt and white jeans, he appeared on the brink of tears as the Magistrate asked about his legal representation.

Mariemuthoo replied that he would opt for legal aid.

Legal Aid attorney, Lewhan Reddy then told the court the accused would be seeking bail.

But State Prosecutor, Sabelo Ziqubu said they'd oppose it due to the seriousness of the charges. The matter has been postponed to next week.
