Toddler drowns in Richards Bay pool

A north coast family's worst nightmares have become reality.

A toddler has drowned at a residential pool in Richards Bay.
The child, believed to be about 18-months-old, was allegedly found unresponsive in the pool by a family member who called emergency services.

Netcare911's Shawn Herbst says medics raced to the home just after 4pm yesterday afternoon.
Herbst says full advanced life support and resuscitation was initiated, but the child could not be saved and was declared dead at the scene.

Authorities are investigating the incident.
