Toddler drowns in pool of water in Cottonlands

A two-year-old boy has drowned in a pool of water in Cottonlands in the north of Durban.

Reaction Unit SA's Prem Balram says the child is understood to have been playing with other children on Monday afternoon.

Balram says community members found him in water which had pooled next to a bridge.
"Paramedics got to the scene, and members of the community had removed the child from a pool of water that formed around a burst pipe. It was a very small pool of water."
