Three shot dead in Richards Bay home invasion

Three people have been shot and killed during a home invasion in Richards Bay.

A family was woken up by armed assailants - who gained entry into their Forelle Avenue home in Arboretum early this morning.

Police say a 42-year-old father and his 17-year-old son were shot dead during a scuffle.

Suspects then opened fire on a neighbour who'd rushed over after hearing screams. Netcare 911's, Shawn Herbst says a woman was also shot and wounded.

"The people that were fatally wounded were declared deceased on scene by a private ambulance service. An adult female was transported by a private ambulance service to hospital for further treatment. Circumstances leading up the shooting will be investigated by the Richards Bay SAPS who were on scene," Herbst said.
