Three accused in N2 boulder attack apply for bail
Updated | By Bernadette Wolhuter
Three men accused of having pushed a big rock off a bridge that killed a teenage girl and her young brother are applying for bail in the Verulam Magistrate's Court.

Sixteen-year-old Amina Haffejee and her seven-year-old brother Abdur Raheem died after the boulder crashed through the windscreen of the car they were travelling in, in late December.
The incident took place on the N2 highway near Tongaat.
The children had been travelling with their parents, who were also injured, at the time.
In their affidavits, in support of bail, motor mechanics Selvan Govender and his son, Nathan, both say they'll be pleading not guilty.
They say on the night of the incident, they were at home with another relative. Selvan says since his incarceration, he has suffered emotional and psychological stress as well as financial loss.

He says his home has been broken into and ransacked.
Nathan says the conditions at Westville Prison, as an awaiting trial prisoner, are shocking.
Gumbi too, says he didn't do it and that the deceased weren't known to him and he had no reason to kill them.
