COSAS spokesperson, Zithulele Ndlela says they are concerned about the increasing numbers of COVID-19 positive cases.
He says they have been informed of a number of schools that are putting lives of teachers and learners in danger.
If the Education Department doesn't make any changes, COSAS says they will be forced to shut down schools.

"Many of the schools in parts of the country - the regulations of COVID-19 are not being adhered to," says Ndlela.
"Many schools, more especially in which in the beginning week of reopening of the school, some testers and thermometers were not working."
Ndlela added: "Schools did not have [the equipment] for screening to do the screening at the entrance of institutions of basic learning. That's how we were able to know and understand."
