Six of the seven suspects arrested in connection with the disappearance of Andile 'Bobo' Mbuthu will remain in police custody.
The Tongaat teenager was last seen over two weeks ago.
It's alleged he was severely assaulted at a local tavern after being accused of stealing alcohol.
On Friday, divers recovered remains believed to be of the 16-year-old boy - from the Hambanathi River.
A DNA test has been conducted to determine the identity of the victim.
The incident sparked protests - with the community burning down the tavern.
The NPA's Natasha Kara says a seventh juvenile suspect will make a separate court appearance in terms of the Child Justice Act.
"The accused appeared in the Verulam Magistrate's Court today, and the matter was remanded to 19 May for bail application. The charges against the accused are kidnapping and murder."
