Suspected car thief killed in shootout with police on Durban N2

Emergency services officials are on the scene of a shooting on the N2 in Durban.
It's understood police were pursuing two suspects who were in a stolen vehicle.
The alleged car thieves are said to have fired at police near Sibaya with officers retaliating.

IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson, Paul Herbst says paramedics assessed one of the suspects who was hit.
"One of the suspects was fatally wounded, and unfortunately, one got away. The scene is still active. All the necessary authorities are on the scene. The N2 northbound is severely affected by traffic," he said.
