Earlier, Warrant Officer Rajan Sanders told the court that they used CCTV footage to link Collin Pillay to the crimes.

Pillay stands accused of murdering Jane Govindasamy and her daughters, Denisha and Nikita at their home last year.

His defence attorney, Amanda Hulley questioned Sanders on the CCTV footage acquired from a boutique about 100 metres away from the Govindasamy's home.

In the footage, Pillay, wearing a grey beanie, can be seen walking in the direction of the home in Longcroft Drive.

Nikita, still in her school uniform, is then seen walking home with her boyfriend about 10 minutes later.

A clip of Pillay walking in the opposite direction later that night, and not wearing the beanie, was then played in court.

The accused appears to wipe something silver with what looks like a beanie before dumping it on the roadside.

Hulley told the court her client picked up the knife in the road before tossing it away.

She argued Pillay had often used the road through the complex when heading to Phoenix Plaza.
