State sifts through Siam Lee murder accused's testimony as bail hearing continues

Bail proceedings in the case of murdered Durban North woman, Siam Lee have resumed in the Durban Magistrate’s Court.

The 29-year-old faces 16 charges, including one of rape, and cannot be named at this stage.

The State is questioning the information the accused provided the court in terms of his residences and businesses.

He opted to take to the stand yesterday.

When asked about where he lived, he provided the details of three addresses in KwaZulu-Natal.

Public prosecutor, Surekha Marimuthu asked him he why he had omitted an address in Johannesburg.

He replied saying the lease was terminated following his arrest.

Marimuthu also asked why he only mentioned three companies and not eight when asked about his businesses.

He said he did not mention the five he was no longer involved with.

The 29-year-old is accused of kidnapping and murdering Lee in January this year.

The 20-year-old's badly burnt body was discovered on a farm in New Hanover in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands two days after she went missing.

Lee disappeared from outside an alleged brothel in Margaret Maytom Avenue in Durban North.

Bail proceedings continue.
