State Capture Inquiry: Zondo warns officials against withholding information
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The Commission of Inquiry into State Capture has adjourned - with current Finance Minister, Nhlanhla Nene's testimony pointing towards influence and control by the Gupta family.
During his testimony yesterday, Nene revealed how his suspicions that he was going to be axed as Finance Minister in 2015 were confirmed when Mcebisi Jonas called him claiming he had been offered his job by the Guptas.
Nene testified that it was his refusal to toe the line on projects that would benefit the Guptas that led to former President Jacob Zuma giving him the chop. The minister cited the nuclear deal and a new SAA route.

Nene was reappointed to the position of Finance Minister after President Cyril Ramaphosa assumed office.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, who's chairing the commission, has issued a stern warning to government officials with information - but refuse to come forward.
"There must be a lot of senior officials in government departments, people in the National Assembly, and in the NCOP who know things that fall within the terms of reference of this Commission. They are not coming forward - we ask them to come forward. I just need everybody to know that just because we have been inviting them to come forward - this doesn't mean that if they don't come forward - this Commission will not get to know what some of them know," Zondo said.
