UPDATE: Stage Two load shedding implemented
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
UPDATE: Stage 2 load shedding has now been activated. Eskom says this is effective from 3pm until 11pm tonight - as a result of a shortage of capacity.
Eskom has implemented Stage One loadshedding.
The power utility says power cuts will be active from 11am to an estimated 11pm tonight.
The utility is experiencing difficulties with generating capacity a week after energy regulator, NERSA approved Eskom's request for an electricity tariff increase.
Earlier this month, Eskom reported a shortage of emergency water and diesel reserves.
Consumers are again being reminded to use electricity sparingly.
