South Africa’s taps will never run dry: Mahlobo
Updated | By Celumusa Zulu
Deputy Water and Sanitation Minister David Mahlobo says water quality and not water supply is the biggest problem facing the country.

Mahlobo’s stance comes as Durban's northern reservoirs recover from a water outage that lasted a little over a week.
Many parts of Johannesburg were also without supply for several days last week.

Utility Johannesburg Water said the interruption was caused by a power failure at Zuikerbosch water treatment plant, which affected most of the city’s reservoirs.
In the wake of the latest outages, eThekwini Municipality has said it's budgeted R1 billion for water services for the 2023/23 financial year, while R2.1 billion will also be spent on other water loss interventions.
Speaking on Newzroom Afrika on Wednesday, Mahlobo insisted the country would not run out of water.
He said the government has made significant infrastructure investments over the past 29 years.
