MEC for Social Development, Weziwe Thusi will be among those paying their respects today. Her spokesperson, Ncumisa Mdelu says the department will be offering more support.
"We're talking about four people who were gunned down in front of their family - leaving behind so much trauma. That's why the MEC will be accompanied by a trauma response team just to assist the family and neighbours. In Empangeni, the people have not received the kind of support that the people of Durban have received," she said.
One person has been arrested in connection with the shooting. Another suspect was shot dead by police.
