Shutdown protests in Durban 'peaceful and quiet’

Scores of EFF supporters are protesting in the Durban CBD over the crippling electricity shortages.
They took off from the party's Glenwood offices earlier as part of a nationwide shutdown that is also calling for the resignation of President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Law enforcement officials were monitoring the protest throughout the morning.

The eThekwini metro police's Boysie Zungu says the protest has been peaceful.
"The city is quiet, although police are there to ensure that there are no disturbances that are taking place. They will be able to control traffic if they are approaching an interception."
City spokesperson Msawakhe Mayisela says there haven't been any incidents reported.
