Section of N3 between Camperdown, PMB to close for expansion

The South African National Roads Agency says an upgrade project will kick off on Friday on the N3 between Camperdown and Pietermaritzburg.

Sanral says because of this, a portion of the route will be closed to motorists for three months. 

 

Eastern Region Project Engineer Corné Roux says they will be widening the national route from a four to an eight-lane freeway.

He explained what the temporary closure would mean for travellers. 

 

"Motorists travelling north on the N3 from Durban towards R56, Richmond, Thornville or Umbumbulu are advised to take the Camperdown offramp to turn left onto the R103 towards the R603 and Umlaas Road. This is from 14 April for approximately three months."

 

Meanwhile, KwaZulu-Natal's Exco has tasked its special advisor to look into road repair projects in Inanda that began after the April floods last year. 

 

At a meeting on Wednesday, members of the executive council called for a status report on the work done on the P457, a main road that was washed away.
