Noxolo Khumalo, a 26-year-old teacher from Johannesburg, drove to Durban to visit her relatives for Easter.

On Saturday night, she unknowingly drove onto a road that was damaged in last year's floods.

The barricades had been moved to the side of the road.

Her car then plunged into a hole left by a collapsed bridge.

Family spokesperson Ayisha Khumalo's told us about the agonising wait for emergency personnel to recover Noxolo's body and car that night.

She says they had to camp at the scene of the crash for hours before help finally arrived.

Ayisha says they were heartbroken when they found out that thieves had ransacked Noxolo's vehicle.

"We are still battling to come to terms with Noxolo's death as a family. What hurts more is that someone stole her belongings from her lifeless body.

"They used her fingerprint to unlock her phone to call us that she had been involved in a crash, then took it and switched it off.

"They took of her earrings, watch and wallet where her bank cards and Identity document was. They also took all her belongings she had inside the car. But we have reported the matter to the police."
