Sars e-filing glitch leaves taxpayers frustrated
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
SARS says a dedicated team of technicians is working around the clock to keep its e-filing system running smoothly, after a glitch saw early bird submissions being unsuccessful.
The tax season got underway on Monday.
The revenue service has been urging citizens take more use of the e-filing system in a bid to ease congestion at SARS branches.
Some taxpayers who tried to file their returns online ended up being frustrated as they couldn't complete their submission or save their data.

SARS's Marcia Ujobolo says this was caused by a high volume of submissions, causing the system to be under pressure.
"When we open filing season - because of the load on our system that came through - we started picking up that we had system issues on our side with the loading of the form.
"When you open your return, we have already populated it with information from third party data. On top of that, there are some other process issues around password reset," Ujobolo said.
