Santaco to ensure taxi drivers follow Aarto Billo

Taxi council, Santaco says it will work to ensure drivers adhere to the Aarto Bill.
The Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences Bill has been signed into law by President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Santaco spokesperson, Sfiso Shangase says they will educate their members on the bill -- with the aim of saving lives.
The law, among other things, introduces a demerit system for repeat traffic offenders.

Motorists who lose all their allocated points will have their licences suspended or cancelled.Santaco spokesperson, Sfiso Shangase says they will educate their members on the bill -- with the aim of saving lives.
"Road safety is the most important thing. Millions of Rands are also lost by government through RAF and deaths on the roads," said Shangase.

He says the money lost as a result of the carnage on our roads would be better spent improving service delivery and infrastructure.The council is encouraging commuters to report taxi drivers who behave recklessly on the roads.
