SA on verge of becoming failed state - Cosatu

The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) general secretary says South Africa is on the verge of becoming a failed state.
Bheki Ntshalintshali addressed thousands of workers who marched in Durban on Wednesday against the high cost of living and other pressing issues.

He says with millions of South Africans unemployed and 17 million depending on social grants, including the R350 Covid grant, the situation can't be sustained.
"Universities are increasing their fees and very soon, your children and my children will not be able to go to university."

"Inequality is growing, comrades. Poverty is growing. There are many families where people go to bed without any food on the table."
Union leaders handed over a list of demands to one of the KZN Transport MEC Sipho Hlomula.
He's promised that government will respond within the 14 days stipulated by Cosatu.
