Runaway fires cause havoc in KZN

Management teams were busy on Tuesday
morning determining the extent of damage caused by several runaway fires that blazed through parts of the province.

Firefighters have been battling veld fires throughout the night on the KZN south coast.
The KWAZULU-Private Ambulance service was there.
Spokesperson Craig Botha says there were house fires in Ramsgate and Margate.
"Thankfully, no injuries were reported. Currently, the fire in Palm Beach is still alight, and they are having difficulty extinguishing it."

On Sunday evening, fires were reported in the King Cetshwayo, uThukela and uMzinyathi Districts.
KZN Cooperative Governance spokesperson Senzo Mzila says cars and homes were destroyed.
"MEC Thulasizwe Buthelezi has directed the provincial disaster management centre to coordinate additional support for those that have been affected by these fires that destroyed livelihoods.
"This will ensure that residents who are affected get the support they need in order to rebuild their lives."
