Residents held for hours in Tongaat 'hostage' situation

Police are searching for a group of six robbers who held up two people in their Tongaat home, allegedly for hours, while they ransacked the house.

According to police, the men armed with guns and pangas tied-up the victims and then proceeded to look for money and and other valuables.

They apparently even had time time to eat and watch TV before loading a bakkie from the property with the stolen goods and  driving off.

SAPS spokesperson, Thulani Zwane says officers are hopeful they victims got a good look at the suspects.

"The suspects were brave enough that they helped themselves to food and other items in the house while they were holding the victims hostage," he said.

"This might help us with out investigations, as the victims had enough time to look at them. Hopefully they'll give us a good description as to how they look so we can track them down," he said.
