A Tongaat woman is recovering in hospital after she was robbed and shot while walking home from work last night.
Netcare 911's Shawn Herbst says medics arrived at the scene just after 7am.
"Reports from the scene indicate that an adult female returning home from work was allegedly robbed and then shot as she tried to escape. The woman believed to be 41-years-old sustained gunshot wounds resulting in a fracture.
"The woman required advance life support interventions and was transported in a serious condition to hospital for further assessment and care," Herbst said.
A Canelands man was also shot and wounded in what appears to have been an attempted robbery in nearby Verulam yesterday afternoon.

Meanwhile, police are also probing a deadly shooting at a home at Thokozani location near Albert Falls. The police's Thembeka Mbhele says a 34-year-old man was shot twice in the head yesterday. Nothing was taken from his home.
"The motive for the killing is unknown at the moment. The deceased was staying alone in the house. The case is investigated and nothing was taken so there are no possibilities of robbery," Mbhele said.
