Protesting public servants in Durban hand memorandum to govt
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Government workers who marched in Durban on Thursday dispersed by early afternoon.
They left King Dinuzulu Park in the morning and sang and danced towards City Hall.
Thursday's nationwide strike was called as part of efforts to put pressure on government to up its pay hike offer of three percent.
Unions have been demanding a 6.5 percent increase.

The Public Servants Association's Nondumiso Mvubu presented their memorandum of demands to acting Director-General in the Office of the Premier Sibusiso Ngubane.
Before the handover, PSA National Manager Claude Naicker addressed the crowd.
"Next year if we do not agree on a salary increment for you, whatever government is proposing, be it half a percent, they will implement unilaterally like they did this year.
"There is a problem about implementing a salary agreement unilaterally, then there is no need for unions anymore."
