Possible snowfall expected in the Berg this weekend

The South African Weather Service says temperatures will drop in the province from tomorrow.

Durbanites are ending off the week with a high of 28 degrees, but maximum temperatures for the city will remain below 20 on Saturday and Sunday.

The mercury in Durban will only reach 18 degrees on Saturday and Sunday. Minimum temperatures of 8 and 9 degrees are expected.

There is also a 30 percent chance of slight rain on Saturday morning, clearing as the day progresses.

Margate: 10/16
Richards Bay: 10/21
Underberg: -5/16
Newcastle: 3/16
Ladysmith: 1/19
Mooi River: 0/15
Kokstad: -7/13
Ulundi: 9/21
Pietermartizburg: 3/18
Giants Castle: -2/13

The weather service says snow can be expected in the Underberg and the Royal National Park areas on Saturday evening.

Sea swells in Durban will reach 7.5m in the afternoon. Wind gusts of 60kmph are also forecast for coastal areas.

Cool conditions will continue on Sunday. The temperature is expected to drop to -8 in Kokstad, reaching a high of 14 degrees in the southern KwaZulu-Natal town.

Minimum temperatures in Underberg, Ladysmith, Mooi River, Ixopo and Giants Castle are also expected to drop below zero on Sunday.
