Political killings at crisis point: KZN ANC
Updated | By Puseletso Petersen
The KZN African National Congress is appealing to the Community Safety MEC to urgently probe what it's calling a security crisis around the province's councillors.

The party has been reacting to last night's murder of ward councillor in Umzimkhulu, Mduduzi Shibase.
Police spokesperson, Thembeka Mbhele, says the 39-year-old was shot dead in Gugwini, near Harding.
"He was just arriving at home when he was attacked by the unknown suspect and was shot several times in his chest. He died at the crime scene. A case of murder is being investigated by the provincial organised crime task team," she said.

Mbhele says no arrests have been made.
ANC provincial chairperson, Sihle Zikalala says they believe the party's local leaders are being systematically eliminated.
"This is a painful experience, it is the third comrade to be killed in that municipality of Umzimkhulu. As the ANC provincial leadership, we will work with the police on all of these incidents, we are also going to mobilise the community against these incidents," he said.
Shibase's death comes after the murder of a former ward councillor, Khayelihle Mgcwaba who was shot dead while at his house in Machunwini area earlier this month. His wife and her two alleged accomplices are facing charges.
