Police helicopter crashes at Virginia Airport

Two people have escaped unharmed after a SAPS helicopter crashed at the Virginia Airport in Durban North.

The details surrounding the crash are still unknown at this stage, but it is understood that the helicopter crashed and landed on its side on the runway.

Rescue Care spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson says medics assessed the chopper's pilot and assistant pilot."Neither had sustained any injuries and they were given a clean bill of health by an Advanced Life Support paramedic. The airport is shutdown at this stage, and all necessary authorities are in attendance and will be investigating further."
