Emergency services raced to the scene at about 10.30am.

Medics say two men were hurt in the accident. It is still unclear what caused the plane to come down in a field near the High Stakes airstrip off Georgedale Road.

Netcare911 says police and eThekwini Fire and Rescue are still at the scene.

The crash was cordoned off while authorities inspected the area.

Rescue Care's Garrith Jamieson says the men, both believed to be in their 60s, were treated for moderate injuries by advanced life support paramedics before being taken to hospital.

Jamieson says SAPS and members of the South African Civil Aviation Authority were on scene to investigation the incident.
